Energy resilience in bushfires and extreme weather events in Australia
Research insights from the ESKIES project
Explore our insights on energy resilience
With increased incidence of fires, floods and severe weather events, it is important that households understand their options and needs when it comes to ensuring electricity supply, especially to critical appliances. We’ve drawn on the experience of New South Wales householders who’ve relied on alternative power sources in a blackout to compile this guide to some of the options available.
Drawing on interviews, workshops and case studies across the duration of the project, this final report provides detailed insights on:
- how households and communities were impacted by power outages
- how they used Distributed Energy Resources (DER) and other resources available to them to manage during these outages, and
- how DER and other resources could be used to achieve greater energy resilience in future.
